The AAR Approved Intermodal Wedge® XL is our first two-part securement system, engineered to secure medium to heavy weight loads in all domestic intermodal shipping containers. On average 50% stronger than the Intermodal Wedge®, it delivers superior holding power while providing a fast, economical alternative to more expensive and time-consuming securement methods.
Designed to fit on either the peak or valley of corrugated container walls, the Intermodal Wedge® XL secures freight using a 4×4 beam or two fastened 2×4s. The Intermodal Brace works in conjunction with the Wedge to provide added strength against longitudinal load shifting, while our thickest, strongest white tape delivers dependable adhesion for demanding applications.
Because container wall dimensions can vary between the peak and valley, the optional Wedge Shim is designed to compensate for those differences by filling the gap between the beam and the Wedge. This helps maintain maximum outward pressure for consistent securement performance without the need to cut multiple beam lengths or keep different sized beams on hand. Simply add the Wedge Shim when needed to achieve a tighter, more secure fit.
